Mokume – vein (wood) / Gane – metal
Seamless metal joining technique. The name is due to the similarity with the grain of the same wood. This lamination technique is of Japanese origin, used 300 years ago in the creation of sheaths and hilts for swords.

This course is designed for those people who, having made jewelry or not, have a special interest in learning about the different possibilities regarding the fusion and union of different copper-based metals. As is copper, bronze, brass, silver and gold.

Saturday. Hours from 11 a.m. to 18 p.m.

PROGRAM

– Safety and Hygiene.

– Fusion of metals. Precautions, time and temperatures of different materials.
– Cutting and Preparation of the “taco” Mokume Gane.
– Application of the correct temperature to achieve the fusion and union of all the sheets.
– Posterior folding and torsion of the mokume.
– Lamination and stretching of the material.
– Elaboration of the jewel to be made.
– Polished and different finishes.

This course includes:

Basic materials, tools. (Gold not includded)
No previous experience necessary
Bring a notebook and pen to write down.
